THE “5CH LEARNING BOARD” DOCUMENT
Title: The 5CE Learning Board
According to the Malaysian National Curriculum(Malaysia, 2013), elective science subjects are aspired to sharpen and reinforce pupils’ knowledge and skills in STEM. These subjects enable pupils to pursue high education with lifelong learning skills. These pupils are anticipated to pursue careers in STEM and be able to participate in community development and nation-building actively. The topic of carbon compounds is the sub-study of organic chemistry, where students need to understand the fundamental concept of the five homolog groups of carbon compounds. Many scholars have stated that as the abstract nature of the topic, the educator needs to diversify the method of teaching the topic (Beasley, 1980). A mind map is one of the methods suggested by (Liu, 2021) to teach organic chemistry as it effectively gives students a positive performance. For this 3×2 feet foldable game board, a tree map will be illustrated with Adobe Illustrator to connect the five homolog groups accompanied by the chemical apparatus needed to experiment. The game board will be complemented with the Augmented Reality application, where students can see in a natural setting the set-up of the apparatus involved in the homolog group reaction to grasp the fundamentals of the concepts further.

The objective of The 5CH Learning Board
1. Pupils will be able to write the physical and chemical properties of the five homolog groups.
2. Pupils will explain the name of the reaction and the experiment to interchange different homolog groups using AR.
i) Alkene to Alkane
ii) Alkene to Alcohol
iii) Alcohol to Carboxylic acid
iv) Alcohol and Carboxylic acid to produce an ester.
