The Process in Designing my 5CH Learning Board: Design Thinking : Prototype

Prototype

The design will now focus on producing several inexpensive, scaled-down versions of the product to investigate the critical solutions generated in the ideation phase. These prototypes can then be shared and tested with a small group of students.

This phase aims to identify the best possible solution for each problem identified during the first three stages. The answers are implemented within the prototypes, and, one by one, they are investigated and then accepted, improved or rejected based on the users’ experiences.

By the end of the Prototype stage, a better idea of the product’s limitations and problems will come to light. This phase is crucial to acknowledge how real users behave, think and feel when connecting with the authentic product.

The prototype was developed using Figma to outline the mobile application. The learning board were designed using Adobe Illustrator. The question cards were created using power-point. The prototype was tested with a group of form 5 school students. The drawings were made colourful to differentiate the different chemical solutions. The five homolog groups were given different colours. This ensured students could identify the groups’ characteristics according to their colour on the game board.
